MIGRATING FROM DUO TO MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR

Visit https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo to review the current sign-in methods you have registered through Microsoft 365 via Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) to verify what is listed and update accordingly.

RMC strongly encourages the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app over other methods of authentication.

After clicking “Add sign in method”, select Microsoft Authenticator and follow the steps on the screen which will then ask you to install the app on your phone.

Once the app is installed, scan the QR code with your phone’s camera which will then open the authenticator app.

A test code will appear on your computer screen that you will be prompted to enter on your phone.

If you do not set up the authenticator app, your MFA codes will go to your phone or email depending on what you have listed and verified in security info until January 31, 2027. After January 31st, you will be forced to use the Microsoft Authenticator or risk being locked out of the RMC Microsoft environment.

This concludes the setup of the Microsoft Authenticator.

Following the migration to Microsoft’s Authenticator, when logging in, you will be prompted for the new Authenticator app and not DUO.  Your prompt should look like the screenshot below, based on your enrolled authentication methods (which you verified during setup).  Please select the Microsoft Authenticator app as the other options are NOT as secure. Once selected, a code will appear on your computer screen that you will be prompted to enter on your phone.

***Users who DO NOT setup the Authenticator prior to Oct 1 will be prompted when logging into any Microsoft app to set up a Passkey – we are strongly recommending the use of the Authenticator app.***
