Overview
ITS' goal is to allow students to get connected and stay connected easily! You can expect a smooth experience connecting to the wireless network with the devices you bring to campus.
Issue
Computers/tablets/smart phones wifi access
- On Windows and macOS computers:
- Choose RMC wifi and enter your RMC email address and password and if prompted, choose to connect.
- On iOS devices: Choose RMC wifi and enter your RMC email address and password. If you are asked to trust a device certificate, choose "Trust."
- Change the private MAC address for the RMC Wi-Fi from rotating to fixed. Instructions
- Turn off "Request Desktop Website" by going to Settings > Safari and scroll down to "Request Desktop Website" to toggle it off for all websites.
- On Android devices < 11.0: Connect your wifi device to the network named "RMC". The network uses the following parameters:
- Network Security Type: WPA3-Enterprise (also called WPA3 with 802.1X authentication)
- Encryption Type: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication Type: MSCHAPv2
- CA Certificate: Select do not validate or do not check.
- Identity: Enter your RMC email address and password.
- On Android devices 11.0 and higher: Google has changed security options and Google Android devices will need to be onboarded using the On-boarding an Android device directions. As of now, Samsung Android devices are not running "strict Android" so still allow the "do not validate" option and do not need to be onboarded.
- Chromebooks are not a supported platform for most required software apps and are also not compatible with our secure RMC network.
Computers/tablets/smart phones wired access
Students wishing to connect via Ethernet can simply plug into one of the ports in their residences or a classroom and it will dynamically give them student access.
Notes for wirelessly connectivity
- Forget the "R-MC Connect" network so that your device does not switch back and forth but stays on "RMC", which is our secure network.
- On Windows: Go to Network & Internet settings > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks and forget the "R-MC Connect" or "RMC" network.
- On Macs: Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Select the "R-MC Connect" or "RMC" network and click on the minus sign and hit OK.
- On iPhones/iPads: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > select the blue information system icon by "R-MC Connect" or "R-MC" and choose Forget network if joined.
- On Androids (Might vary depending on device): Go to Settings > Connections > "R-MC Connect" and select forget.
- Reconnect to the preferred "RMC" network on your smart phone/tablet/Windows or Apple computer with email address and current password.
- Each time you change your RMC account password, you will need to forget the "RMC" network and reconnect to it again with your new password if your device is not on-boarded.
