HVAC Tips and Information

  • During spring and fall, the temperatures can fluctuate 30-40 degrees in a day, making it challenging to moderate indoor temperatures.  Some of our older buildings (Conrad and the townhouses) share HVAC pipes that do not allow switching back and forth from heating to cooling, and often need to be in a “neutral” state for several days before a change can be made.
  • Many halls have multiple sensors that set temperatures by taking the average across the floor. This means a room may be a bit warmer or cooler than desired.  Making adjustments based on one room can affect the entire hallway.
  • Consider the use of fans for increased airflow. RMC does not provide fans.
  • Open windows slightly for improved air flow/temperatures on days that it makes sense.
