Retiree Need to Knows

Overview

Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!

As a retiree of Randolph-Macon College, there are some account and license changes that will take place for which we would like to prepare you. You will also be required to turn in any college-issued technology.

Emeriti will continue to have lifetime access to their college email and accounts as they maintain a different level of access and privileges accorded to them due their academic standing and continued scholarship, unless they request to have their network account deleted. All other retiree accounts will be deactivated and purged on the last day of employment. Exceptions are outlined in the account retention policy. Retirees that are not emeriti can request to have a R-MC email, but it will need to be a new account, not the one used when employed by the college.

Duo

After retirement for those retaining access, you will no longer receive DUO pushes when accessing college resources such as your email account. You will be required to use Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your account. This works seamlessly with the existing Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset functionality (SSPR) and will simply ask you once to verify the information already populated in SSPR at registration. If you forgot your password and your registered phone or personal email address has changed, please contact the Service Desk via phone at 804-752-8500 and identify yourself. We will work with you to update your SSPR authentication methods with the new alternate email and/or cell phone provided to us over the phone so that you can then reset your password yourself.

OneDrive

If you would like to maintain your OneDrive account, you must purchase an annual subscription. A personal Office 365 subscription includes:

  • One person use on multiple PCs/Macs, tablets, and phones, renewable annually at $99.99 per year
  • Premium versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for PC, macOS, iOS and Android
  • Publisher and Access (PC only)
  • 1TB OneDrive cloud storage

What are the steps to purchase Office 365 for $99/year?

    1. You will need to register with a personal Microsoft account (existing or new account associated to your personal email address).
