Recover Files

Service Description

This service seeks to restore files that are not recoverable from one of the user-initiated methods below:

  • File Name Search: If you know the name of the file, you can use it to search within OneDrive/SharePoint or the network drive.

  • Recycle Bin: Check the recycle bin for deleted files in OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams. Files deleted from SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams are typically recoverable from their respective recycle bins for 30 days from the time of their original deletion.

  • Version History:  OneDrive and SharePoint have version history, which allows you to restore previous versions of files or entire library to a previous time.
Information Needed For The Request

To recover files from OneDrive, SharePoint, or a network drive, please provide the location of the files (specific folder or site), file name and timeframe for when the file was last known to be in a good state.

  • OneDrive/SharePoint: Identify the specific OneDrive or SharePoint site, library, or folder where the files were located.
  • Network Drives: Know the network path or drive letter where the network drive is mapped.
Estimated Time Required

Restoration time depends on the recovery method required. ITS provides recovery of files stored within RMC-sponsored OneDrive folders or Network drives only. For recovery of hard drive or external drive data, we partner with Nerds to Go at cost to the end user or department/office.

Estimated Cost

There is no cost for attempted recovery of files saved to Office 365 or a network drive.
